Masi Oka părăseşte distribuţia ‘Hawaii Five-0’

După şase ani, şapte sezoane şi 131 de episoade, Masi Oka părăseşte distribuţia serialului Hawaii Five-0. Actorul care în ultimii ani a făcut naveta între Los Angeles, Japonia şi Hawaii consideră că personajul său a evoluat şi s-a maturizat suficient de mult pe parcursul ultimelor sezoane motiv pentru care a venit momentul să spună ‘la revedere’ fanilor şi publicului H50.

Masi Oka a fost la început guest-star, având prima apariţie în episodul 1×05, urmând ca din S2, personajul Dr. Max Bergman să fie promovat la series regular. Decizia de a părăsi distribuţia H50 i-a aparţinut în totalitate actorului cu toate că a mărturisit că a lăsat la latitidinea lui Peter Lenkov modalitatea în care Max va ieşi din scenă.
‘I just wanted to give him a nice send-off, and if it helps the ratings, please feel free to kill him off.’

În sezonul curent, Max a putut fi văzut pentru prima dată în episodul de Halloween, urmând ca ultima sa apariţie să fie programată pentru 7×13, episod aflat în prezent în producţie.

“It’s been great to be honest with you. I love my crew, I love the cast, the writers. Typically, I’m like saddened, but I was actually really happy, because I rarely get to say goodbye on a set. In my past shows, we’ve had the unfortunate situation being canceled many times, so I never got a firm way of saying thank you to the crew, thank you to the cast, and say thank you before I leave, because it’s, “Oh, we’ll see you after the summer break,” and all of a sudden you find out that you’re not going to see them again. So this time it was really nice knowing that there’s a farewell, knowing that this will be my “last day.” It was just nice to know I had that and to really enjoy and kind of reflect on the amazing journey and experience that I had. I mean, seven years is a long time to be on a show and it was just beautiful. It was just a lot of us talking about memories and just going back, a lot of laughter and a lot of crying.”
